Hands-On Experience in Public Policy Development at KIPPRA

I joined KIPPRA as part of the 2023/2024 Young Professional cohort for a one-year program. During this time, I gained valuable insights into government structures, research writing, and public policy development. As an agricultural economist, the program further honed my skills in conducting evidence-based research and writing policy briefs. I co-authored two blogs: one on promoting cultural heritage preservation in Kenya, and another on promoting diaspora investment for patriotism and socio-economic development. I also co-authored a research paper on robotic medical services and the future of healthcare in Kenya. Beyond office work, I served as the administrator for executive board member training at Masinde Muliro University, coordinated a youth climate change training program in partnership with the International Potato Centre (CIP), and led the KIPPRA Mentorship Programme for Universities and TVETs (KMPUT), which was specifically for Meru University.

I highly encourage young professionals aspiring to become policy analysts to explore such programs, as they offer invaluable hands-on experience, enhance critical research skills, and open pathways to making impactful contributions in public policy development.
