Conducting accurate data analysis and how to effectively communicate findings to diverse audiences

The KIPPRA young professional programme offers a uniquely transformative and deeply rewarding experience. From the outset, the programme encompasses a rigorous training and exceptional on the job experience in research and public policy making.

I have learned the importance of conducting accurate data analysis and how to effectively communicate findings to diverse audiences. This experience not only sharpened my analytical skills but also taught me how to frame complex information in a way that is accessible and impactful. The program also fosters a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and critical thinking.

During my time as a YP, I co-authored several research outputs including a discussion paper, an information note, policy brief and blogs. The discussion paper titled “Exploring Future Trends in E-commerce in the Fourth Industrial Revolution” was anchored on the futures foresight methodology which was part of the training courses we undertook. The study identified quality of internet infrastructure, adoption of smart mobile phones and digital skills as the key drivers of E-commerce adoption and use in Kenya.

Overall, my time as a young professional in KIPPRA was not just about building skills but also cultivating a passion for evidence-based research and effective policy making. From the program, I have gained skills to make meaningful contribution to the field, equipped with both knowledge and a strong network of colleagues.

I encourage masters degree holders under the age of 35, with an interest in research and public policy making to consider joining this program as it provides unparalleled opportunities to learn and grow as a professional.
